Plain-English DPDP term

What is a Data Processor Instruction?

Simple meaning

A processor instruction tells a vendor which data it may handle, for which purpose and what it must do at the end.

A simple example

A support vendor may be told to use ticket data only for support and delete exports after the contract ends.

Why it matters

This term matters when a real person enters a form, uses a product, speaks to support or asks the company to act. The business should be able to explain the purpose, owner, systems, vendors, retention and proof in simple language.

What to check

Common mistake

Treating the definition as finished work. A clear definition is useful only when the team can apply it to a real data flow and keep evidence.

First useful action

Pick one customer or employee journey. Mark where this term changes a decision, then name the owner and the evidence that should exist.
